Falmouth Oyster Festival set to return for 2022
Cornwall’s biggest and best-loved specialist food festival will take place from Thursday 13th to Sunday 16th October 2022 and promises the return of a packed programme full of flavoursome fun.
Falmouth Oyster Festival celebrates the start of the oyster-dredging season, which runs from October to March. Devoted to the mighty mollusc, the festival celebrates the native Fal Oyster and diversity of Cornish seafood with four days of feasting and festivities.
Having outgrown Events Square, this year the festival can be found at The Waterfront location of Church Street. Transforming the car park into Falmouth’s exciting new Waterfront event venue, the festival will spread out against the beautiful backdrop of Falmouth harbour.

The new venue offers exciting new opportunities to enhance the visitor experience and brings us closer to the sea. “said Mike Rangecroft, Falmouth Oyster Festival’s Honorary Chairman.
If you enjoy fresh Cornish seafood and an eclectic mix of music and first-class entertainment, then it’s not one to miss! The vibrant programme includes cookery demonstrations, live music, Cornish food produce, arts and crafts, real ale, wine and Champagne bars, oyster and seafood bars, working boat racing, a grand oyster parade and a most fiercely contested oyster shucking competition.
The festival organisers are extremely grateful for the generous support they receive from principal sponsor Seasalt Cornwall and hotel sponsor St Michaels Resort. Their support contributes to being able to keep much of the festival as free entry. Thursday and Saturday night tickets are now available to purchase online.
Behind the scenes a new website has been developed where all up-to-date details of the festival can be found and tickets for Thursday and Saturday night’s entertainment can be purchased. The website development has been supported by Falmouth BID. Richard Wilcox, Executive Director of Falmouth BID said: “It’s fantastic to welcome back the Falmouth Oyster Festival to the roster of events for 2022. The event has significant social and economic impact and attracts thousands of visitors; a brilliant later season boost to the town. Following on from last year’s Covid-enforced postponements, the team is working so hard to organise a packed calendar of festivals this year, as we look to support the business and resident communities as much as possible.”
